shackburger count: 16 total cost: $200

Even though Tony the Tiger hooked me up with a shackburger last night, the events of the evening ended up being very costly. I lost the one set of keys that I own to my car. The worst part is, I knew exactly when it happened too - I just didn’t realize it. The seats at the shack were tugging on my keychain (no double entendre intended), and at one point, the key-ring with my car keys must have snapped off without my realizing it. I have a call into the Shake Shack management about any found keys, but I am not expecting much.

This morning, I had to call several dealerships to ask about getting replacement keys made for a car that has none. I tried my best to not sound suspicious, but I had no luck. What I have to do is get the car towed to the dealer and they can then program a new key. In doing some research I’ve learned that the keys have RFID’s in them (even keys that look like normal keys) so that when you insert the key into the ignition, it matches up in radio frequency and then starts the car. That’s apparently what makes it near impossible to hotwire the car. It also makes a key cost $140 (add $50 to get the car towed to the dealer, tax and voila - $200+). Good times.

shackburger count: 14

This is a very belated shackburger post. We hitup Shake Shack last week on the way back from Maryland. It was nice to go there on a late Tuesday afternoon - no line, quick service and a fantastic day. I remembered to ask for my burger to be well done - and it was. Cheese fries and a soda, of course. I had to pass on the custard this time. Looks like there will be another shackburger post tomorrow night.

New Shake Shack to Open at CitiField

Yes, my friends, this is a wet dream come true. My two greatest passions: The Mets and Shake Shack will be found together at the new CitiField in 2009. Now all the Mets need is some cheerleaders with boobs the size of Mr. Met’s brain and we’re all set.

I’ll have to celebrate by having a shackburger in the rain, while watching the Mets play the Marlins tonight…. at a strip club.

Good Luck Getting Home

With the MTA & NYC Transit having come to a standstill this morning, I’m wondering what the commute home is going to be like this evening? My suggestion: hitup the Shake Shack for some burgers after work and let the rush hour pass before trying to get on a train home. Rail lines are flooded, there are trees that have fallen over onto train tracks and roads are probably still a mess. But hey, it’s not raining anymore. I’d say check out mta.info before leaving, but I don’t think the site is going to load for many people. Good luck!

shackburger count: 12, burger count: a lot more

Last week might have been my cholestrol-crazed, burger week of the summer. I hitup the Shack with the BS boys on Thursday night and had a shackburger and frozen custard with hot fudge. Then on Saturday night, we went classy at BLT, which is growing on my list of favorite burgers. I’ll post that list one day. Then, last night, I was hangin’ with the Doc and the Fireman and we BBQ’ed up some tasty burgers. I actually had two. So basically, I had 4 burgers in the past 4 days. Man, I need to get in shape.
