Mets Close in on Deal with Twins for Santana

That’s Johan Santana! Here’s the story.

I didn’t think this would happen, but it looks like it’s going to be it. They give up Gomez, Mulvey, Humber and Guerra.

Not bad if you’re a Mets fan. Not bad at all.

UNC needs to be #1 on the court, not just in the papers

by malik on Nov.14, 2007, under sports

I don’t care that UNC is #1 in the AP and Coaches Polls. I don’t care that almost all the papers and magazines in America have my beloved Tar Heels cutting down nets in early April. What I do care about is the execution on the court and that was surely lacking tonight. Against a very good Davidson team, UNC fumbled, stumbled, and had way to many errors. The final score didn’t show the true nature of the game. Davidson led most of the game and if it wasn’t for their ill advised moves, they would’ve knocked off the #1 team in the country. I’m hoping this is a hiccup and the team starts to gel quickly and limited the turnover errors.

Jay Bilas made an interesting comment during the game. He said whenever UNC coach Roy Williams loses his first game of the season, his team ends up in the Final Four. He might be right, but Jay’s a dookie so I better google it myself.

Suckbury ready to spill the beans on Thomas

by malik on Nov.14, 2007, under sports

Suckbury

“Isiah has to start me,” Marbury fumed, according to the source. “I’ve got so much (stuff) on Isiah and he knows it. He thinks he can (get) me. But I’ll (get) him first. You have no idea what I know.”

Poor baby got his feelings hurt when the coach told him he wouldn’t start. It now seems Mr. Sexual Harasser’s alternative lifestyle may be exposed. Frankly this is a good thing because once Suckbury leaves your team, success will follow. Just look at the Wolves, Nets, and Suns.

Blogworthy: Curt Schilling’s Blog

by bobby on Nov.12, 2007, under sports

Curt Schilling’s blog actually makes you believe that he’s a good guy. He even kept fans informed throughout his recent negotiations with the Sox. A few days ago, he actually posted a letter that was sent to him by Red Sox management when they traded for him in 2004. Very interesting stuff if you ever want to become a GM. Or not. Here’s an excerpt:

We are so close to the goal that has eluded us for 86 years. We would not have traded four talented young players or intruded upon your holiday if we did not sincerely believe that our time is coming very soon. The 2003 Red Sox were a talented and exciting team that came within five outs of reaching the World Series. As an ownership group and management team, we are committed to putting an even better team on the field in 2004 and beyond.

Judge Judy Makes More Than Your Favorite Sports Stars

by malik on Nov.09, 2007, under sports, tv, whatever

Carl Pavano. Jerome James. Ryan Leaf. Akili Smith. Bobby Bonilla. Nobody has made more sitting on their ass than Judith Sheindlin. Judge Judy raked in a cool $25 million last year. A few years ago, she inked a 4-year, $100 million dollar deal to berate people on television. Like she always says, “Don’t pee on my leg and tell me that it’s raining.”

Some how you think this bit of information would make me hate “Pay-Rod” a little less. It doesn’t. That guy is cancer’s cancer.
