People want to live the Cartoon Life

by lostofficehero on Jul.03, 2007, under movies, tv

apu kwik-e-mart
7-Eleven turned 11 of it’s stores into Kwik-E-Marts over the weekend and people have flocked in to check them out. For those of you that have been in the dark for the past decade, Kwik-E-Mart is the name of the convenience store owned by Apu on the Simpsons. The Simpsons is that TV show (cartoon) with Bart and Homer Simpson. Please tell me you know this.

The conversion of the stores is a part of the marketing campaign for The Simpsons Movie due out July 27. The stores are even carrying products that Kwik-E-Mart is known to sell, like KrustyO’s brand cereal. Here’s a story of fans are being fans by trying to find these stores and buy as many of the Simpsons-related products as they can. I’d venture to guess that they will even meet a dude named Apu, or Habib, or Patel in all of these converted stores (probably even the stores that haven’t been converted). I’m sure it’s fun to be a cartoon. For one thing, you can be 7 years old forever.

Jessica Alba’s “Good Luck Chuck” Posters

by malik on Jun.19, 2007, under movies

Jessica Alba - Good Luck Chuck

Good Luck Chuck, starring Jessica Alba and Dane Cook comes out this September. I don’t find Cook to be all that funny. In fact, I find him quite annoying. If you think his stuff is good, thats because he steals it. Check out Louis C.K. instead. As for the poster, you can’t go wrong with Alba and ice cream. Three more posters including a Lennon and Yoko spoof after the jump. (continue reading…)

Thundercats: The Movie

th

Yes, it’s true. According to Variety, Warner Bros. has optioned a script for the 80s cartoon, Thundercats. This is on the heels of another live action remake, He-man. The boys at bobbysketch grew up watching these campy cartoons and will definitely feel nostalgic about the good ol’ times.

Review: Spiderman 3 part 2

by scoobs on May.05, 2007, under movies

spiderman 3 tobey

I caught the midnight showing of Spiderman 3 at the AMC theater on West 34th on Thursday night. Got there bout two and half hours before and got on line. We were probably number 20 on the line so it was quite short when we got there. There were still tickets available for the midnight showings. The line got long by around 11:30 or so but not monumentally long. It was a poor showing in my opinion.

I’ve been a fan of Spiderman since I was kid collecting comics. I probably got a couple hundred issues of Spiderman wrapped up in plastic waiting to read again someday. So of course I’m going to be heavily hyped for this one. The first film was good and the second was amazing. This one, not so much.

Review: Spider Man 3 – Spidey Goes Emo

by lostofficehero on Apr.27, 2007, under movies

spiderman 3 tobeyYou know you’re going to watch it regardless of what I say in this review. Spiderman 3 will be a huge blockbuster and make tons of money. I was lucky enough to score passes to a screening of it last night, so here’s my review, without spoilers.

The movie starts out very ghey. It ends very ghey. It’s ok in between. There’s nothing more you need to know.

OK, jump for the rest…you know the deal.
