Mr. Doormat: The Role I Didn’t Want At All
by malik on Aug.04, 2010, under whatever

It’s been almost seven months and why can’t I get it into my thick skull that you can’t expect a person to act the way you want them. To instill all these attributes, to conjure a memory that never was, none of this is helpful.
Where’s your self respect man? You deserve better than playing Mr. Safety. Why waste the limited time you have on some girl who wouldn’t care if you’re around the next moment. Until you want better, you’ll get what you have asked for; idle in stagnation, road to nowhere.
Remember when you gave a damn? How things were never that bad, and you were always able to overcome the obstacle? It’s not too late.
Do what you have to Malik. Now.
Jay Z and other Rappers Hate The Greenback
by malik on Nov.19, 2007, under whatever

Pay attention as you watch the catchy new music video from the mega-star rapster Jay-Z, “Blue Magic”, and see if you can’t spot the product placement. It is not a fancy car that he is endorsing – although both his rides, a Rolls- Royce and soft-top Bentley, are plenty spiffy – but rather a currency – and it is not the dollar.
Like so many in the hip-hop genre, the song is a celebration of ostentatious wealth. But capturing the attention of commentators in this clip, shot in the glimmering, neon-lit canyons of New York City, are the repeated glimpses of flickering wads of €500 notes. Jay-Z has thus performed a currency defection: the dollar is not just down, it is out. The euro is the new bling.
First you have supermodels dissin’ the dollar and now the hip hop community has jumped on board. Next on Hova’s to-do list: Put down that Budweiser and pick up a Labatt Blue.
I Have Issues

I tried to make sweet love to my HD Receiver last night. The picture quality is simple amazing. So good I almost watched a minute of Ghost Whisperer. You know what they say, once you go Hi-Def, you don’t go back go F’N crazy.
UNC needs to be #1 on the court, not just in the papers
by malik on Nov.14, 2007, under sports
I don’t care that UNC is #1 in the AP and Coaches Polls. I don’t care that almost all the papers and magazines in America have my beloved Tar Heels cutting down nets in early April. What I do care about is the execution on the court and that was surely lacking tonight. Against a very good Davidson team, UNC fumbled, stumbled, and had way to many errors. The final score didn’t show the true nature of the game. Davidson led most of the game and if it wasn’t for their ill advised moves, they would’ve knocked off the #1 team in the country. I’m hoping this is a hiccup and the team starts to gel quickly and limited the turnover errors.
Jay Bilas made an interesting comment during the game. He said whenever UNC coach Roy Williams loses his first game of the season, his team ends up in the Final Four. He might be right, but Jay’s a dookie so I better google it myself.
Lyrics that Rock : Date Rape by Sublime
by malik on Nov.14, 2007, under music
The next day she went to her drawer
Look up her local attorney at law
Went to the phone and filed the police report
And then she took the guy’s ass to court
Well, the day he stood in front of the judge he screamed
‘She lies that little slut!’
The judge knew that he was full of shit
And he gave him 25 years
And now his heart is filled with tearsThat night in jail it was getting late
He was butt-raped by a large inmate, and he screamed
But the guards paid no attention to his cries
Although a horrific subject matter, Sublime tackles the evils of rape with humor laden lyrics. The perpetrator’s violation ends up violating him. A pretty straight forward moral tale. (continue reading…)
