Lost Theories: Why Ben? Are they dead? Time Travel!
February 12, 2008 – 9:47 am by lostofficeheroI am convinced that one of the secrets of Lost and the Island involves time travel. Maybe not time travel per se, but definitely the manipulation or use of different layers of time. There are obvious discrepencies between what we’re learning is happening in and off the Island. If Oceanic 815 was found under water and the 324 passengers are confirmed dead, then what the hell is going on here? It’s either 1. A conspiracy or 2. A sudden pause in time where, right before the crash were to happen, the passengers somehow froze time and ended up on the Island.
Let’s explore the conspiracy thoery. Behind every conspiracy, there is a mastermind. Who is the mastermind behind this conspiracy? We’ve been led to believe that Ben is the master manipulator of all things on the Island. Could it be that he is also that powerful off the Island? I am not ready to hand that title over to Matthew Abbadon just yet. Yes, we know Abbadon has some pull. But the fact that he showed up in a mental hospital to question Hurley sets him down on the scale a bit. Someone with supposedly that much power should be able to get the information he needs from other sources. Ben, on the other hand, seems to have all of the information in the world. He obviously has a connection to the outside world. And he must know how to get off the Island. How do we know this? He’s got a mole on the freighter. Many have theorized that the mole is Michael and/or Walt. On a side note, how cool would it be if Walt becomes the new Ben? The kid who kills everyone to gain power because he hates his dad. He also knows too much about people in the outside world. He knew how to show Juliette her sister. He knew how to get Michael off the Island - without a submarine. He knows why the Fantastic 4 are on the Island. The real question is: why does Ben not want anyone to get off the Island? The answer: because he is a wanted man. Probably for having destroyed the Dharma initiative and murdering hundreds of innocent people. So Ben is the conspirator and he convinces the Oceanic 6 to keep quiet about who is on the Island. I believe that he is the one who finally lets them off of the Island in exchange for their sworn secrecy. Which he’ll blackmail them into upholding.
