OK, so I’ve been gushing about “Cautionary Tales”, here’s a quick recap – hopefully I don’t miss anything. If you’re here, you know that HRG got shot just like the Isaac painting predicted. And then he regenerated – from the blood that Bob took from Claire? Don’t know. Maybe HRG had some of her blood stashed away for a rainy day. Already I’m digressing. In other storylines, several other questions were answered. Bob is Elle’s father (that’s a huge part of the HRG story). Adam/Takezo did in fact kill Kaito Nakamura. This episode was also Hiro’s coming to accept that his father must die. Matt’s powers are gaining greater strength – he can actually manipulate people now…and Molly’s still annoying.

Let’s start with the minor subplots. Hiro wants to go back in time to change his father’s fate. When he does go back, his father convinces him that although he’s got godly powers, Hiro must not try to act like God. They travel back to Hiro’s mother’s funeral and that’s where Hiro meets young Hiro. From that meeting, he realizes that he is acting childish and let destiny unfold. He brings Kaito back to the not so distant past and lets him die. But he does discover that the killer was Takezo Kensai – and that seems to scare Hiro, or at least surprise him.

Matt is still on a mission to put the picture puzzle together. Through his developed power, he convinces Mrs. Petrelli to spill the beans on everyone in that photo…all of those answers, we already knew because of what we’ve learned so far this season. Adam is 400 years old, the Company’s research, etc.

Now onto the good stuff. The Bennett’s are leaving town, but Claire refuses to leave. She goes to school and is approached by Bob – as some school district person. She catches his mistake – he called her Miss Bennett, so she runs from him. He follows her home and then kidnaps her while tying Mrs. Bennett up. Where’s Mr. Bennett? He was out looking for West.

West actually kidnapped Noah Bennett as soon as he walked out of the door of his house. HRG convinces him that Claire is not a spy and they end up becoming teammates in the battle to get Claire back. HRG had asked Mohinder to use Molly’s powers to find where West was. Mohinder, now having turned his back on the plan to take down the Company, lies to him and sets him up to be “taken down.”

Oh, and Mohinder has a new partner now – Elle. Bob’s very own daughter. Man, she acts sexy. So, Mohinder and Elle are about to take down HRG (after asking nicely for Claire’s blood, of course), when West comes out of nowhere and knocks out Elle. I would have enjoyed that if I were West. Then HRG turns the gun on Mohinder, but West stops him from shooting him. You shoulda done it Bennett – you shoulda killed the annoying Doctor. Instead, they kidnap Elle and that sets up the showdown between Bob and HRG: two dads looking to get their daughters back by any means necessary.

Before I go any further, I want to say that Jack Coleman deserves an Emmy for his acting on Heroes. HE is the only character that delivers consistently superb acting. To see him morph from cold blooded killer to loving father time and again is just amazing. And to see what he did in tonight’s episode was just unbelievable. One of my favorite lines was when a soaked Elle tried to use her electrical powers and she got self-zapped, HRG looke at her and asked: “Stings like a bitch, doesn’t it?”

Back to the show. Bob and HRG meet up at the beach, they swap kids and as soon as West takes off with Claire, Elle zaps him – they crash land and HRG shoots Elle in the arm. As he’s about to shoot Bob, Mohinder puts one in HRG’s eye. Bam! HRG hits the ground and my jaw hits the floor. But, it looks like the writers had a trick up their sleeve. HRG was too important a character on the show to let die. So they found a way to keep him alive. We’re led to believe that someone’s blood helped him regenerate his eye and he’s ok now – we should have seen that coming, what with last week’s Nathan healing episode. But whose blood was it? Adam’s? Claire’s? That remains a mystery. What doesn’t remain a mystery is Season Two of Heroes. Bravo!

He regenerated! And if I’m not mistaken, Mrs. Bennett said he was Claire’s real dad? WTF? Recap coming – though I might be too excited to actually get it straight. This was, by far, the best episode of Heroes this season. By far.

Mohinder shot him! Wow, I didn’t think this could happen. Dammit.

Pay attention as you watch the catchy new music video from the mega-star rapster Jay-Z, “Blue Magic”, and see if you can’t spot the product placement. It is not a fancy car that he is endorsing – although both his rides, a Rolls- Royce and soft-top Bentley, are plenty spiffy – but rather a currency – and it is not the dollar.

Like so many in the hip-hop genre, the song is a celebration of ostentatious wealth. But capturing the attention of commentators in this clip, shot in the glimmering, neon-lit canyons of New York City, are the repeated glimpses of flickering wads of €500 notes. Jay-Z has thus performed a currency defection: the dollar is not just down, it is out. The euro is the new bling.

First you have supermodels dissin’ the dollar and now the hip hop community has jumped on board. Next on Hova’s to-do list: Put down that Budweiser and pick up a Labatt Blue.

72 fucking hours, and 40 stores later, and I still can’t get a Wii. Wtf, man. Look, I ain’t one of those losers who goes and camps out in front of Circuit City at 6am, waiting for a 10am opening, so I can be that 400 pound cow who runs over people on her way in because she has to get the first 70 burgers of the daysystem. Fuck, I hate fat people.
