Lyrics that Rock : Shape of my Heart by Sting
by malik on Oct.31, 2007, under music
He deals the cards as a meditation
And those he plays never suspect
He doesn’t play for the money he wins
He doesn’t play for respect
He deals the cards to find the answer
The sacred geometry of chance
The hidden law of a probable outcome
The numbers lead a danceI know that the spades are swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that’s not the shape of my heart
With an excellent guitar riff and amazing lyrics, Sting’s “Shape of my Heart” tells the tale of a gambler who plays not for the money, but for some logic in the entropy of luck; while at the same time the front he puts up is costing his relationship. (continue reading…)
Great Quotes: Weeds
by scoobs on Oct.31, 2007, under tv
From the 10/29 episode of Weeds
Doug: He promised me golf. He promised me power. Then he bent me over and he fucked me up the ass like an innocent alter boy alone in the vestry after services. Lured by promises of juice and cookies.
Andy: Some vivid imagery there Doug.
Doug: With his stupid hair. What grown man has blond hair?
Andy: Alright, time to go. Come with me. We’ll go get Dean, sell some wacky…
Doug: No! It’s time for Doug to rise from the ashes. I must reclaim what is rightfully mine Andy. And I must fuck his shit up. As God as my witness, I will get him.
Andy: Well, I see that you’re in the disturbing throws of revenge scheming and you’re not letting go. So I’m going to leave you to it. Catch you later man.
Time to invest in India?

The Indian Sensex Index (yes, that’s what it’s called, I swear) is hitting all kinds of record highs as reported in today’s Wall Street Journal. Now, you see, I don’t really read this paper – I just happened to look over someone’s shoulder while they were reading it. And yes, they were Indian. In any case, maybe I should stop blogging and start investing in some kind of Indian Index Fund.
Heroes Recap: The Line
by lostofficehero on Oct.29, 2007, under tv

“The Line” will be remembered as the episode where Mr. Bennett blew Ivan’s brains out. Who was Ivan? Why did Bennett do it? All to come in the recap that follows. Monica ends up in New York with the company, the Twins cross the border and Sylar confesses his deathly desires – again. Claire forces her way onto the cheerleading squad and Peter is in Montreal, then New York – in the future. Hiro and Takezo Kensai become enemies and Yaeko and the Swordsmith are captured. There were subtle references to some characters we haven’t met yet, and we learn that, guess what, the world is in danger. (continue reading…)
Downtime
by bobby on Oct.29, 2007, under whatever

To all of our loyal readers, we apologize for the slow loading time we were experiencing earlier today (or was it no-loading time?). It was due to a script on the site that is hosted by Amazon.com. That script has been removed, so things should be back to normal. It’s just that you won’t get those wonderful links in all of our posts that point to Amazon.com. So we may lose a few bucks. Oh well. As long as the world knows that Kim Kardashian is Scoobs’ Babe of the Week and that the Red Sox are World Champs and that Peter Gammons hates A-Rod, it was all worth it.
