Adversity

by bobby on Sep.27, 2007, under sports

The Mets are facing adversity, and they will get through it. One way or another, they will get through it. Here are some things I noticed during the game last night:

1. Pedro Feliciano can’t throw strikes to right handed batters, he just can’t.
2. If El Duque was healthy enough to relieve, why didn’t he start?
3. Mets fans suck. I felt like the only one cheering for the team after they blew the lead. Mets fans are waiting for the opportunity to boo their team, almost the way the Mets are waiting for the opportunity to lose. These fans don’t deserve a playoff team unless they shape up and support the orange and blue.
4. Blame Rick Peterson. Why? He needs to preach “contact pitching.” Help pitchers reduce the number of pitches it takes to get through a game. Case in point: Pedro – 100 pitches in 5 innings, Humber, 90 pitches in 4+ innings, Maine 100 pitches in 5 innings, etc. etc. etc. Show them tape of Greg Maddux or something. Starters need to go deeper into games. Our last win? Ollie went 8 innings.
5. Learn from Tony LaRussa. Tonight will be a reminder of how important bullpens are. The man who is notorious for overusing his bullpen will be in town. Let’s learn a little from him.

Four games left – at least it’s exciting, I guess.

Holy Sh*t

A russian woman gave birth to a 17 pound baby. Yes, in case you thought that was an error, let me repeat – 17 POUNDS. She and her husband named her Nadia. So, my first reaction was holy shit. This is the couple’s 12th child. That led to my second reaction of having a vasectomy. I mean let’s face it – sex for this couple is probably just a lot of asking, “is it in yet?” And then the dude just says, “Oh you know what don’t even worry about it – I’m done.” As a Med student the biggest baby I ever saw was a 11 pounder. She was born to a fat cow who I wished would have been forced to push that mammoth through her vag, but the obstetrician felt compelled to “Do the right thing,” and did a C-section. Whatever, jackass. I mean, seriously – that story just isn’t fun. Now picture someone trying to deliver a Mack truck through a 5-6 inch wide canal – that’s just ripe for comedy, but noooooo. Anyway, more info can be found here. Oh and in case you’re a complete retard – the baby on the left is baby Nadia.

Great Quotes: The Simpsons

From the 19th season premiere  “He Loves To Fly and He D’Ohs”

Marge: Homer, you smell like Chicago. Did you fly there in a commercial airline?
Homer: No way. Commercial is for losers and terrorists. I flew in a private plane.

Ouch.  Still too soon?

Lyrics That Rock: Immortal Technique

by bobby on Sep.26, 2007, under music

Immortal Technique

Yo, yo, lyrically I’m infinite like possibilities
But you don’t have the capability like infertility
Cuz opening your mouth to question my validity
Is like trying to contradict the theory of relativity
When I spit it’s the epitome of heavy artillery
My enemies are obsessed with me like the bitch in Misery
But break out like father running form responsibility
Every time I step and abuse the mic with versatility
I balance humility, with brutal instinct
I’ll make your whole cypher look like those crackers from N’Sync
And I don’t care about your link, or your luxury car
I shed light with more magnitude than all of the stars

TiePat’s put me onto this heavily political, underground lyricist. He opened up for Fort Minor at the Nokia ballroom in NY last year and got the crowd riled with “Bush Knocked Down the Towers.” Here’s a link to “Dominant Species,” the rap quoted above.

Pissing and Braves Chants

by lostofficehero on Sep.26, 2007, under sports

…as opposed to pitching and defense. Yes folks, last night, the Mets pissed away another one. Amidst the Tomahawk chops at Shea, Tom Glavine and the bullpen combined to give away another “stretch” game to the Washington Nationals. Normally, I’d offer a list of suggestions for improving the current situation, but it’s just not worth it anymore. Yeah, there was a nice comeback late in the game, but too little, too late. I’m headed to Shea tonight with the boys to get the Mets back on track. It’s Humber time.
