The Office returned to NBC with a one hour “marathon” episode last night – literally. There were some revelations, some shocks and some love. Just a quick recap of who’s with who and what’s going on. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check it out on NBC.com.

Everyone’s out of the relationship closet, it seems. No more secrets. The “surprise” is that Jim and Pam are dating. They tried to hide it from everyone, but the cameras caught them meeting up after work and kissing. Lovely. Karen’s gone and I’m going to miss her, but she’ll apparently be back for a couple of episodes later in the season.

All of the other office relationships are still going…Dwight and Angela, Ryan and Kelly and Michael and Jan. Ryan has moved to corporate and seems to have a growing role on the show (and he’s sporting a light beard now – good look). I guess it helps that he (B.J. Novak) sometimes writes for the show.

Last night’s episode featured Michael running over Meredith while driving into work. She fractured her hip and was hospitalized. Pam’s computer got infected with a virus because she tried to download a celebrity sex tape, and Angela’s cat died as a result of Dwight putting it in the freezer, though he did so because the cat was sick to begin with.

To combat this string of bad luck at the office, Michael organizes a 5k Fun Run to raise awareness and money for rabies – a disease apparently discovered on Meredith as a result of her being hospitalized. The run concludes with Michael hurling the Fettuccine Alfredo that he ate immediately prior to the start of the run.

The Office is a fantastic show for a 30 minute time slot. The hour seemed to drag a little last night, but it was excusable because we got all the updates on all the relationships and a bunch of Michael’s antics. Welcome back, gang.
