The Mystery of Demetrius Jones

Actually, it’s not much of a mystery since homeboy transferred to Northern Illinois, but the former Notre Dame starting Quarterback is missing in action.
Notre Dame quarterback Demetrius Jones has enrolled at Northern Illinois and intends to play there next season, according to a source familiar with the situation.
Jones started Notre Dame’s season opener against Georgia Tech, but was pulled before the end of the first half and had not played since. He did not join Notre Dame on its road trip to Michigan this weekend.
Northern Illinois officials declined to confirm that Jones had enrolled at the school.
Huskies coach Joe Novak said he’s heard the report but has had no contact with Jones, his family or other representatives.
On Friday, Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis confirmed that Jones did not make the team’s bus trip to Michigan.
“I have not spoken to Demetrius and can only say that he missed the team bus. Any additional comment would be without all the facts,” Weis said in a statement.
Wow, this sounds like a great gameplan: Come to ND, wait until Brady Quinn graduates, bomb your first start and then transfer to a lower division school. I guess he’s optimistic about his ability to reach the NFL over a Notre Dame degree. I’m sure the Northern Illinois alumni will hook him up better than the Fighting Irish. I’m also sure I’ll be throwing the winning touchdown in the Super Bowl this year. I’m awesome baby.
