NY Sweeps
by lostofficehero on Aug.31, 2007, under sports
Congrats to the Yankees for sweeping the Red Sox and boo on the Mets for getting swept by the Phillies. Heyyo Claynice, what’d I tell you when the Yanks were 14.5 games back? They are never out of it. Kinda like how the Mets are never a sure bet. Hotlanta, here we come.
Yankee fans, this is your day of glory, enjoy it, savor it, revel in it.

According to the New York Daily News and The Associated Press, several WWE wrestlers have been linked to a company distributing steroids and other pharmaceutical drugs illegally. The investigation by the Albany County district attorney’s office concluded that WWE wrestlers were clients of the company. The Daily News obtained the names of the WWE wrestlers and they include Randy Orton, Booker T, Edge, Chavo Guerrero, Ken Kennedy, William Regal and ECW champion John Morrisson among others. After news of the investigation’s conclusion, WWE suspended 10 unnamed superstars for violating drug policies.
The investigation also netted some NFL and MLB players which have not been named.
The Killers to release B-Sides Album
by lostofficehero on Aug.30, 2007, under music
Many critics were disappointed with Sam’s Town, the sophomore album from The Killers. To follow up, they are going to release an album of B-sides and remixes in November. There will be a couple of new tracks on it, along with a duet with Lou Reed.
Although I didn’t enjoy Sam’s Town as much as I did Hot Fuss, it had more of a lasting appeal than I thought it would. I find myself looking for a few tracks from Sam’s Town on my Zen and when I do hear them, I am reminded that the album has plenty of brightsides – critically acclaimed or not. I’ll be looking forward to the B-Sides.
Shocking: Amy Winehouse Cancels all US Shows
by lostofficehero on Aug.30, 2007, under music

Considering her battle with drugs, alcohol and fame, I’m utterly shocked that Amy Winehouse has canceled all of her remaining US appearances. That includes the MTV VMA’s in September. This comes after her father in-law urged her fans to boycott her music and asked MTV to not give her a VMA until she admitted herself into rehab. I don’t even feel sorry for her, but I do think her story might be a great movie one day.

You got no time for the messenger,
got no regard for the thing that you don’t understand,
you got no fear of the underdog,
that’s why you will not survive!
Spoon’s autobiographic tale of how the (major label) record company dismissed them as small potatoes. (continue reading…)
