Willie didn’t get it, but Carlos Delgado did. And I did. He needed to be benched and asked Willie to do it yesterday. Hopefully, he can come back from this and get back on track. Shawn Green played first base and had a good game as the Mets swept a three game series from the A’s on Paul Lo Duca bobblehead doll day at Shea.

Another promising sign was Carlos Beltran getting a couple of RBI and stealing a base. He’s looking less hurt now. Jose Valentin hit a homer from the right side of the plate to put the Mets up for good. John Maine had another solid outing and the speedsters, Reyes and Gomez, are starting to become a very exciting tandem at Shea. Here’s to the Mets turning it around on a beautiful weekend in NY.

Yesterday, the Tar Heels won their third straight game and advanced to the College World Series Finals. North Carolina staved off elimination for three straight games, beating Rice twice in two days to win the bracket. The Tar Heels now face a Best-of-3 against the Beavers of Oregon State. If this Finals matchup sounds eerily familiar, that’s because it happened last year. The Tar Heels had a 5-0 lead in the 2nd game and were innings away from the national championship before the pitching imploded. Lets’ hope this time around, the Heels bring the trophy back to Chapel Hill.

The Osheaga Festival is a two-day music extravaganza in Montreal. Tickets are available on admission.com. There are some serious heavy hitters on Sunday: Amy Winehouse, M.I.A, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party, and Interpol. Wow. Time to brush up on my French and make another trip up north.
