Update on the Chris Benoit Story

by scoobs on Jun.27, 2007, under tv

gate

According to Reuters and other news agencies, the tragedy has taken a strange turn.  Looks like Chris bound his wife Nancy’s legs and arms and strangled her on Friday.  Then following day, Chris suffocated his seven year old son Daniel in his bed.  Several hours later, Chris hung himself on the cord of a weight machine.  It is officially being investigated as a double homicide-suicide.

On tonight’s edition of ECW on Sci-Fi, Vince opened the show by stating that the WWE will not mention Chris Benoit on air and move forward. Here’s a link to Vince’s comments.  Due to the circumstances of this tragedy, the WWE has taken down all the tributes of Chris on the website and subsequent airings of the Raw tribute.  The WWE has also taken down all of the Chris Benoit merchandise from the shopzone.

Good Deals on Hot Kicks

by lostofficehero on Jun.26, 2007, under whatever

Amazon.com has something like up to 70% off sneakers today. I went through the list and picked out some colorful classics for the summertime:

Puma Mens Pele Brasil - $64.99 $29.99

Just looking at these reminds me of the beaches of Rio de Janiero. I’d be staring down at my feet, day dreaming all day if I wore these.
Converse Chuck Taylors (various colors available) – $20-$40

It goes without saying how comfortable these classic kicks are, and for $40, you just can’t go wrong. Take a look at all the different colors they come in. I’m liking the red pictured here.
Reebok Mens Super Clean RBK - $99.99 $29.99

Although I’ve never owned a pair of these, they look great and are 70% off! They may not be summer colorful, but hey, black goes with anything, right?

Dumbass: Man being chased by cops asked for timeout

by malik on Jun.26, 2007, under whatever

MANILA (Reuters) – Philippine police chased down an unfit thief on Tuesday after he ran out of breath and asked his pursuers for a “time out”.

“He was panting and gasping for air when we caught up with him after a 500 metre sprint,” Erwin Buenceso, one of the arresting officers, told local radio station dzBB.

Buenceso said the man and an accomplice broke into a house in the Philippine capital and stole two expensive mobile phones. Screams from the residence alerted a local police patrol, which gave chase.

The robber asked for a “time out” using hand signals.

After he regained his composure, police seized the two stolen phones and brought him to a station for questioning.

I think the story would be funnier if the timeout was granted and then they both went off for some low-fat yogurt.

R.I.P: Chris Benoit

by scoobs on Jun.25, 2007, under tv

cb

UPDATE – 6/26: It’s officially a double murder suicide. The assumption is that Chris Benoit was the murderer, but it will take a couple of weeks for the results of the autopsies.

Shock was the first feeling I had as I tuned into Monday Night Raw at around 8:45pm and discovered that Chris Benoit had passed away. Raw had canceled the evening’s live event and had a retrospective on the career of Benoit instead.

Benoit was the consummate professional and had the respect of the fans and the wrestlers. He gave 120 percent in all his matches and demanded excellence. That’s why all his matches were usually the best on the card regardless of where it was placed.

As I am writing this, more news is trickling down from the Associated Press and it doesn’t look good at all. It seems that the case is being investigated as a double murder-suicide. I can’t fathom what would lead Chris to murder his wife and his seven year old son. I hope that this is not the case and that there is another reason behind this tragedy.

More details by tomorrow.

Shawn Green hits Walkoff HR, Mets win

by lostofficehero on Jun.25, 2007, under sports

…and the Mets have won 4 games in a row. Nicely done, Mr. Green. Carlos Gomez supplied the other run with a long HR in the 3rd inning. Jorge Sosa pitched a decent game – 1 run in 6 innings. The Mets only got 3 hits and were basically overmatched all night, offensively, but they found a way to win. Nice job by the bullpen – Wagner pitched 2 solid innings, Feliciano, Heilman, good win.
