LoDuca at #2 = Mets Win 8-1

I said it over the weekend and now, finally, Willie gets it. Paul LoDuca batting 2nd allows for the Mets offense to play big and small at the same time. Paulie can get Reyes over to second (or third) in a given situation and then the big guys can drive him home. Last night, Paul came up after the Twins walked Reyes intentionally and came through with a huge hit to drive in two runs. Vote for Paulie, the ladies man!

Beltran’s problem: he’s afraid of getting into a deep count. After the strikeout to end the NLCS last year, he’s afraid of having to face a curveball with 2 strikes. That’s why he’s swinging at the first pitch so often. That’s why he’s not taking quality at bats.

Delgado: It looks like he’s finally turning it around, but I’ve said that before too. He’s becoming a huge tease.

Another well pitched game by a young Mets starter, LoDuco batting 2nd, a couple of home runs, and an all around good W. Let’s hope this is the start of a 9 game winning streak.
