Linkin Park – What I’ve Done (video)

by lostofficehero on Apr.30, 2007, under music

UPDATE: OK, now I love this song. YouTube and the not-so-good video took away from the song itself. I listened to the song in higher definition and at a louder volume and now it’s stuck in my head. Go LP!

Looks like LP has gone political/environmentalist. Mike Shinoda looks like an A-rab in this video…and for some reason, watching this reminded me of Bono. WTF?

Their third official album, Minutes to Midnight, is set to be released on May 15. They will be playing at the Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey in May as well, along with My Chemical Romance.

Honestly, this song sounds a lot like “Breaking the Habit” from Meteora, their last album – just not as good. I hope this is not representative of the rest of their album. We’ll see.

Quick and Nimble, Shades of Keith with Franco at 1st Base

by lostofficehero on Apr.30, 2007, under sports

He won’t be an MVP, he won’t be an All-Star, he won’t win a Gold Glove, but Julio Franco deserves an award of some kind. He may be the best acquisition the Mets made, in terms of value, to help turn this team around. He was a big reason behind the breaking out of Carlos Beltran last year (when he pushed Carlos to respond to a curtain call). He’s a fatherly figure on the team for many, he’s a coach, he’s an example. Oh, and he can play too! Did you see that play he made to throw out the runner at third yesterday?! And then he followed up the next inning by fielding a hot shot at first and then sprinting to the bag. Keither Hernandez must have been proud. Baseball should have a bench player of the year award (do they?) and Julio Franco should win it every year.

Review: Arctic Monkeys – Favourite Worst Nightmare

by malik on Apr.29, 2007, under music

Arctic MonkeysAlex Turner hates phony baloneys. The lead singer of Arctic Monkeys can’t stand your fake tales from San Francisco and your tee shirt and ties combination. He’s a defender against poseurs and professional pretenders. This seemingly obsession with “keeping it real” may eventually lead to the downfall of his excellent band and lowering of the spotlight. Or lead to a departure of a band member, which has happened with bassist Andy Nicholson. Your Favourite Worst Nightmare is a mix of their brilliant debut (“Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not”) and mediocre EP (“Who The Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys”).

No One Wants Brady Quinn

by malik on Apr.28, 2007, under sports

It’s kind of hard going from the anointed number one pick at the beginning of your senior year to being passed up for virtually everybody and your mom. Quinn was expected at worst to drop to 9th. He ended up being picked 22nd overall by the Browns, which passed him up with the third overall pick. The Browns took a guy who opted to go fishing instead of attending the draft with that pick. To make matters worst for Brady, ESPN kept asking how he was feeling after each team was bypassing him. How does it feel? Like your girlfriend performing fellatio on your best friend’s dog while everybody got a chance to watch it. You just felt bad for the guy.

Make no mistake, Miami will probably regret passing him up when they had the chance with the 9th pick. Picking Ted Ginn Jr. with that pick had everybody in the crowd scratching their heads. Guess the Dolphins feel okay with a Pavano-like Daunte instead. One more thing, the picks really don’t need to be 15 minutes each. That’s just way too much time and Taco Bell commercials. Five to ten minutes for the first round would suffice.
