OK, so maybe Nikki and Paulo weren’t completely useless. At least not Nikki. I love how the producers took bad actors from Lost, made them act even worse in a show-within-the-flashback-show as kind of an acknowledgement that, well, they are pretty bad actors. I also liked how they acknowledged what a lot of the male fans of the show were saying – Nikki is useless on the show, but at least she’s hot. The producers of Lost took full advantage of her “abilities” and then decided to kill her….or did they?

This was indeed a filler episode, but it was entertaining nonetheless. Sometimes, we can all use mindless entertainment. That said, there were some plot advances. Here’s what we learned:

Nikki and Paulo scammed the producer of Exposé, a tacky TV Show where strippers fight crime that Nikki was a guest “star” on. The scam? She slept with him to get his wealth. Somehow, that doesn’t sound too abnormal to me. Hmm. Anyway, he had $8 Million in jewels and Nikki & Paulo were after it, so they poisoned the dude and took his bling. They were going to escape to America but they ended up on the damned Oceanic flight that everyone else was on. Apparently, Paulo can cook.

Since the flight crashed, they were looking for the diamonds on the island. Paulo found them, but didn’t tell Nikki (he claims it would have ruined their relationship). He kept them hidden by his own, umm, crown jewels. Nikki caught him and then unleashed a Medusa spider on him that would cause him to be paralyzed for 8 hours. She took the jewels from his crotch and as she was about to get away, the Medusa bit her too. She found time to bury the sack of diamonds and make it to the beach, but then she passed out. Sawyer and Hugo saw her and thought she was dead. They found Paulo and buried both of them…alive. Nikki’s eyes flashed open just before more dirt fell on her, but no one noticed.

That’s really most of it. Charlie admitted to having kidnapped Sun. Paulo knew about Ben’s plan to kidnap Jack. Nikki has a nice rack and she can’t act.

There was a little bit of plot advancement, though. We learn that there’s $8 Million worth of jewels on the island. That might be enough to crash a plane in an attempt to steal it.

I could have sworn I saw John’s father waiting at the airport when Nikki and Paulo were there. Or maybe it was just some old man sitting around. Did anyone else notice? Maybe he was on the flight too and that’s how he made it to the island?

We heard Ben admit that his strategy for getting people to do things is to find something they are emotionally attached to and then exploit it.

Now the flashbacks are flashing back to scenes from the island. Since it’s been 84 days or so, it’s interesting to see different perspectives from the crash scene.

Hugo was a fan of Exposé – the show that Nikki was a “filler” character on. You know, the one about strippers fighting crime. Because what good are cops when you have large chested women to shoot down all the evil in the world?

There was something else, but now I can’t remember. Oh well.
