Andy Barker

Andy Barker is a new comedy on NBC currently on Thursdays at 9:30PM. It’s created by Conan O’Brein and starring Andy Richter (Andy Richter Controls The Universe) and Tony Hale (Arrested Development). Andy plays a CPA who falls into a life of a private investigator along with Tony Hale as his sidekick.

I just finished watching all five of the episodes on NBC.com and I have to say I’m a little disappointed. I was expecting better from this show considering the pedigree. You would think that with the series being created by Conan and starring his buddy Andy would be great. But so far it hasn’t worked out. There’s definitely alot of kinks to work out.

The writing so far isn’t of special note and that seems to be the problem. The characters are still being fleshed out but there is definite potential for this show to be good. These episodes reminds me of my first impression of The Office. The first season was horrible but that turned around in Season 2 so I’m hoping this happens with Andy Barker.

This series should get support from the cult fans that spawned from Andy Richter Controls The Universe and Arrested Development. It has enough pop culture references and quirkiness to keep them interested but it will dwindle if the writing isn’t improved.
